ISOPP CAPhO Symposium 2025 Report

Victoria, British Columbia | April 3–6, 2025

The ISOPP CAPhO Symposium 2025 brought together over 580 participants from 30 countries for an energizing and inspiring few days in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia. With the theme “Global Insights, Local Impact: Advancing a Community of Oncology Pharmacy Practice,” the event welcomed pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, researchers, academics, and leaders from across the oncology pharmacy world to share knowledge, build connections, and shape the future of our profession.

The symposium began with a powerful welcome from Elder Butch Dick, acknowledging the traditional territories of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples of the Songhees Nation and Xwsepsum Nation and setting the tone for a respectful, collaborative, and inclusive gathering. The packed program featured 38 presenters, 8 plenary sessions, 16 concurrent presentations, and 19 sponsored symposia—all covering the latest in oncology pharmacy research, practice, and innovation.

One of the key highlights was the launch of ISOPP’s global publication, “Global Oncology Pharmacy Service Levels and Knowledge Requirements: A Review.” This important piece of work, based on responses from 35 countries, gives us a much clearer picture of how oncology pharmacy is delivered worldwide.

The symposium wasn’t just about research—it was also about people. Leadership and community were front and centre, with thanks to the brilliant organizing team, led by Michelle Koberinski (CAPhO President), Netty Cracknell (ISOPP President), Tina Crosbie (Symposium Chair) and Joseph Williams (Symposium Scientific Program Co-Chair). Their thoughtful planning and leadership created an environment that was both informative and welcoming. A special thanks also goes to Sea to Sky Meeting and Association Management Inc. for their impeccable organization and seamless coordination, which ensured the smooth running of the symposium from start to finish.

Another standout was the Global Oncology Pharmacy Leaders Meeting, where delegates discussed shared priorities and developed a strategic plan in line with the ISOPP vision. It was a productive and energizing session that reaffirmed our global commitment to improving cancer care through pharmacy.

The symposium also celebrated excellence in the profession:

  • The Helen McKinnon Award 2024 was presented to Shaun O’Connor, with Dr. Alexandre Chan also acknowledged.
  • The Helen McKinnon Award 2025 was awarded to Irene Weru for her significant contribution To oncology pharmacy over many years.
  • The Fellowship Award 2024 was conferred on Shaun O’Connor.
  • The Achievement Award 2025 was presented to Liam King, Modupe Lydia Olarewaju, and Whiter Tang, honouring their dedication and impact on oncology pharmacy.

And let’s not forget the brilliant networking opportunities! From roundtables and special interest group meetups to a fantastic cultural night at the Royal BC Museum, the social program made it easy to connect, share ideas, and strengthen our global community.

If you missed anything—or just want to revisit your favorite sessions—recordings are available on the symposium platform ISOPP CAPhO Symposium 2025 Virtual Platform. The concurrent sessions recordings will be available the week of May 12th. Also, as of July 8, 2025, all recordings will be posted to both the ISOPP and CAPhO Websites for only ISOPP and CAPhO members to view. Photos from the event will also be available soon on the ISOPP website—so keep an eye out!

In summary, ISOPP CAPhO 2025 was a fantastic success, showcasing the strength, innovation, and camaraderie of the oncology pharmacy community. It’s clear we’re moving forward together—and we’re just getting started.
