Message from the ISOPP President

I have been involved in ISOPP since the beginning, and this will be my second term as President.  I have been with ISOPP in challenging times and in good times. These are certainly good times.  With gratitude towards previous ISOPP leadership and members, we now have over 5000 members, excellent education programs, successful Annual Symposia, very active committees, and very strong collaborations with other oncology pharmacy organizations.

Our members are our most valuable asset.  With your input, the ISOPP Leadership Team will be reviewing and setting the strategic direction ISOPP should follow over the next few years. There are ample opportunities for you to become actively involved in ISOPP by serving on one of the committees or task forces, or, after gaining some experience with ISOPP, serving on the ISOPP Secretariat.

As the premier global oncology pharmacy organization, ISOPP is dedicated and has an obligation to provide members from around world in high-, medium-, and low-income countries with the tools necessary to keep oncology pharmacists and technicians safe when preparing and dispensing anticancer medications and to provide optimal medication outcomes.

During my first time as president more than 20 years ago, I issued a challenge for ISOPP members to meet at least 2 or 3 new individuals at every ISOPP event.  I am now issuing two new challenges: 1) make an effort to connect with at least 2 or 3 new ISOPP members every year; and 2) encourage at least 3 of your colleagues to join ISOPP.

The ISOPP leadership team always welcomes your thoughts about how ISOPP can improve.  Please send your thoughts, comments, and ideas to president@isopp.org

With appreciation for all you do for cancer patients worldwide,

Barry
