Safe Handling Task Force
The Safe Handling Task Force is charged with developing and launching core educational resources for a Safe Handling Toolkit. The Toolkit will be designed to help ISOPP members in LMICs implement the ISOPP Standards for Safe Handling and will include:
- An e-learning module titled “Introduction to Safe Handling of Systemic Anti-cancer Therapy (SACT) and Cytotoxic Drugs
- A training manual based on ISOPP and WHO guidelines, featuring visual aids, infographics, and context-specific case studies from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)
- Customizable SOP templates covering critical areas: drug storage and inventory, PPE use, drug preparation and administration, risk assessments, and waste disposal/spill response.
- A spill management pocket guide with waterproof, step-by-step illustrated instructions for quick reference in clinical settings.
- Audit and checklist tools to enable institutions to perform self-assessments, safety audits, and monthly inspections.
- Patient and family education leaflets with simple, clear language and provide translations to support home safety after chemotherapy
