Dr.David Wata: MPharm
Graduated with Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2002 and master of pharmacy in clinical pharmacy in 2012. I am a clinical pharmacist and currently the head of pharmacovigilance, medicines, and poisons information services at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). He has been instrumental in the setting up and running of the oncology pharmacy unit and the chemotherapy preparation admix services at KNH. He holds a Master of Pharmacy in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Nairobi, a certificate in clinical trials methodologies from the West Virginia University, certificate of training in paediatric oncology pharmacy from the University of Illinois, certificate of training in aseptic preparations and safe handling from the University of North Carolina and a certificate of training in pharmacology and pharmacometrics from Pharmacometrics Africa.
He provides pharmaceutical care to cancer patients and is also involved in the palliative care programs at KNH. He supervises preparation and administration of chemotherapy drugs, conducts training on safe handling and aseptic handling of chemotherapy drugs, preparation and implementation of local standards for chemotherapy handling, preparation of standard formulas for extemporaneous preparations and conducting operational and clinical research.
He is also an honorary lecturer at the University of Nairobi, School of Pharmacy where he is does teaching and clinical supervision of students. He is also involved in research dissertation supervision of the postgraduate pharmacy students.
