Dear ISOPP Members,
We are delighted to announce the launch of Module 2: Safe Practices and Spill Management as part of the ISOPP Safe Handling Toolkit.
This new e-learning module provides practical guidance on the safe receiving, transporting, storing, handling, administering, and disposing of systemic anti-cancer therapies and cytotoxic drugs. It also covers the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe work practices, spill management, incident reporting, and the promotion of a strong safety culture in oncology practice.
The Safe Handling Toolkit has been developed through a unique collaboration between ISOPP and the Global Power of Oncology Nursing (GPON), bringing together the expertise of oncology pharmacists and oncology nurses. Each module has been written and reviewed by both professions, reflecting our shared responsibility for the safe handling of hazardous drugs and our commitment to improving outcomes for healthcare professionals and patients worldwide.
We encourage all members to access Module 2 (and Module 1) and share this valuable resource with colleagues involved in the preparation, handling, administration, and disposal of hazardous drugs.
You can access the Safe Handling Toolkit here: https://www.isopp.org/library/toolkits/safe-handling-toolkit
This module is the latest addition to the Safe Handling Toolkit, and we are excited to continue expanding this resource over the coming months. Additional educational materials, practical guidance, and supporting tools will be added to further support healthcare professionals in delivering safe and effective care across all aspects of hazardous drug handling.
Finally, we would like to acknowledge Equashield for providing an unrestricted educational grant that supported the development of this e-learning resource. Equashield had no influence over the educational content, which remains independently developed by ISOPP and GPON.
Thank you to everyone involved in creating this important educational resource.
Kind regards,

Netty Cracknell
ISOPP Past President
