ISOPP Member Update

On behalf of the ISOPP Secretariat, it is our pleasure to announce to you as past, present and future members, some exciting and innovative changes which will help advance our Society’s impact, deliver more value, and move us into an even more successful future.

The changes and vision outlined in this announcement were developed based on feedback from previous membership surveys and built upon even further during conversations with participants at the ISOPP23 Symposium in Seville.

Since then, the ISOPP leadership team has spent an enormous amount of time and energy to bring this vision into reality and we now have the pleasure to announce this to you today.

We also have an update regarding the ISOPP24 and ISOPP25 Symposia, so please make sure to read to the bottom!

Introducing ISOPP’s 10-Year Strategic Vision

Our new ISOPP 10-year strategic vision showcases joint collaborations, global leadership meetings, increased education offerings, and strategies to move oncology pharmacy services forward for ISOPP members in all countries throughout the world.

The vision includes the introduction of a no-fee membership effective January 1, 2024, so cost is eliminated as a barrier and ensures access to ISOPP is equally available to all.  You will be invited to ask for a refund or make a donation for any 2024 prepaid membership (more details on this below).

The new 10-year strategic vision provides the framework, and over the next few months the leadership team will build out the next iteration of our detailed 3-year strategic plan focusing on these long-term goals.

The table below outlines the 10-year strategic vision to support ISOPP’s mission, which continues to be to advance oncology pharmacy care for patients around the world through our three core strategic initiatives:

1.    Engage and mobilize the global oncology pharmacy community
2.    Deliver enhanced professional development resources in oncology pharmacy
3.    Lead collaborative advocacy initiatives in oncology pharmacy

Introducing No-Fee Membership

Effective as of January 1, 2024, ISOPP will transition to a no-fee membership model for all members regardless of country. No-fee membership will allow all oncology pharmacy practitioners to join our supportive network, participate in education, and build capacity. By breaking down financial barriers to access valuable resources, ISOPP members will benefit from increased collaboration, engagement, and support to participate in educational programs, advance the profession, conduct research, publish leading articles, have complimentary access to The Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice (JOPP), and share best practices within the global oncology pharmacy community.

How will the Society be funded?

This change to our membership model will be made possible through financial support from major partners and supporters of ISOPP in the pharmaceutical industry and other organizations in the form of sponsorships and grants that are in alignment with progressing ISOPP’s 10-year vision.

We invite all members to help increase our reach by connecting us with your contacts in pharmaceutical companies or other organizations that might be interested in partnering with ISOPP. Please send any suggestions to Evelyn (president@isopp.org) and Netty (president-elect@isopp.org) and we can share the prospectus documents with more details about the available opportunities.

Will pharmaceutical companies have a say over ISOPP's future?

ISOPP is an oncology pharmacy member-run Society, and the Secretariat would like to reassure all our members that appropriate governance and accountability frameworks will be put in place to ensure ISOPP remains an oncology pharmacy member-run Society.

What if my paid membership period lasts beyond December 31, 2023?

Anyone who has a membership period that continues into 2024 will have the opportunity to ask for a refund for the balance by contacting membership@isopp.org. Alternatively, we invite you to donate the balance to the Society to help progress our 10-year vision. If we do not hear from you by January 31, 2024 then we will assume you do not wish a refund and the membership fees paid for 2024 will be made into a donation.

For example:
●    Paid for membership on March 15, 2023 - entitled to a refund for January 1 to March 15, 2024
●    Paid for membership on August 14, 2023 - entitled to a refund for January 1 to August 14, 2024

Moving forward, ISOPP will accept donations which will be used to support our 10-year vision including member research projects and/or travel grants to attend upcoming ISOPP international symposia. Click here to make a donation.

ISOPP24 Annual International Symposium Update

Along with the good news, we also have some disappointing news. Despite everyone’s best efforts including the Secretariat, Finance Committee, ISOPP’s Society and Symposium Management Office, and the ISOPP24 local organizing committee in Melbourne, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the ISOPP24 International Symposium that was originally planned for April 2024 and convert the format to an Australasian Regional Symposium. Although we very much wanted to hold the annual International Symposium in Melbourne, logistical complications could not be overcome and necessitated the change in format.
We will be holding a virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) in April 2024, in which all ISOPP members are encouraged to join and participate in the discussion. More information on this will follow over the next few months.

ISOPP Australasian Regional Symposium

The dates for the Australasian Regional Symposium will be April 20-21, 2024. Save the date and please look out for more information to follow shortly!

Research and Abstract Submissions

If you have research that you planned to submit as an abstract in 2024 then please consider publishing in our ISOPP Journal: The Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice (JOPP). If you have never done this before, or still feel a bit overwhelmed with the process, visit the Resource website page and/or email research@isopp.org and the Research Committee will allocate a ‘buddy’ to help you through the process and get your name in print!

ISOPP25 Annual International Symposium

Looking ahead to 2025, we are delighted to announce that the ISOPP25 International Symposium will be taking place in 2025. The host country has been secured and we are finalizing dates and a venue. Look out for an email with more details so you can reserve the dates, start drafting your abstracts, and plan ahead for travel arrangements. With 18 months to plan we are looking forward to making it the best Symposium yet!

Spread the word and win FREE Symposium registration!

We are delighted to announce these exciting and innovative changes, and we encourage you to join us in spreading the word to your colleagues and oncology pharmacy network though conversations, emails and social media. Spread the word using #ISOPPnofee.

To celebrate this launch, we are giving ISOPP members three separate chances to win FREE Symposium registration to ISOPP25. Everyone who is a member of ISOPP at midnight PST on these three dates (January 1, 2024, February 1, 2024, and March 1, 2024) will be entered into the draw. So, if you are a member as of January 1, 2024, you will have 3 chances to win! Terms & conditions apply.*

*Members can only win once, you must be an active member and registered on the ISOPP website, prize covers Symposium registration fees only and does not cover travel or accommodation. ISOPP leadership (Secretariat and Chairs) are excluded from the draw, and conditions are subject to change.
