Biosimilars

In 2019, ISOPP held an international Biosimilars workshop during which the African participants highlighted several challenges to the introduction of Biosimilars into their local practice. We would like to explore these challenges further, with a view to designing educational materials and resources which meet the specific needs of oncology pharmacists and other oncology professionals in Africa.

During ISOPP’s 2019 Symposium, African participants highlighted several challenges to the introduction of biosimilars into their local practice during the Biosimilars Workshop.

The Toolkit provides tools aimed at assisting oncology pharmacy practitioners to understand and implement Biosimilars in their practice. It forms part of ISOPP’s Virtual Library and access is complimentary for members.  Not a member? Join ISOPP.

ISOPP’s Publication on Biosimilars is published as a supplement in the Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice (JOPP).

ISOPP believes that oncology pharmacists have a crucial role to play in the implementation and optimal use of biosimilar medicines in clinical practice. To support oncology pharmacists in fulfilling this role, in 2018 the Secretariat of ISOPP formed a Biosimilars Task Force to review the available evidence, and to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by the introduction of biosimilars into the oncology and supportive care setting and how these could be addressed.
