CRITICAL MESSAGE – NOMINATION PERIOD RE-OPENED

There is currently no nomination for the position of Treasurer and only one nomination for President Elect.  There are six nominations for the two General Secretariat positions.

 

The ISOPP election nomination period is being re-opened between Wednesday January 13 to Wednesday January 27, 2010 to attempt to recruit additional nominations to complete the slate for the 2010 Ballot.  

 

            We urge all ISOPP members to reconsider submitting a nomination for office.  You can submit your own name for consideration or the name of another ISOPP member you feel you would a good candidate for office of ISOPP.

ISOPP nominations of officers is a key responsibility for all of us to ensure our society has the elected officers necessary to sustain our activities, please consider nominating yourself or another ISOPP member for the 2010 Election.

Duties of Specific Positions:

President-elect assists the President to represent ISOPP judicially and non‑judicially. The President-elect should use this two year term to become familiar with all facets of the ISOPP operation to ensure a smooth transition from one President to the next. The evolving role of the President means candidates must be willing and able to interact with our industry colleagues for sponsorship and partnership opportunities.

 

Treasurer responsible for the financial accounts of the society.  Specifically - lodging monies received with the Society's bank and keeping an accurate account of all financial transactions; debiting members for subscriptions; authorizing dispersements; having the accounts audited at the end of each financial year; preparing a statement of the Society's financial accounts as at 31 December and reporting on the Budget at the General Assembly.

 

Secretary responsible for keeping a register of members; answering correspondence in accordance with the wishes of the Secretariat and summoning and attending General and Secretariat meetings of the Society and recording names of those persons present and taking Minutes of the proceedings.

 

Member assists with the running of the Society and accepts tasks as given from time to time by the Secretariat. Members need to liaise with Committee Chairs (who are invited not elected to their positions) to ensure all facets of the day-to-day operations of ISOPP are carried out to the requirement and satisfaction of the membership.
